Rose Garden

Address: Via di Valle Murcia, 6, 00153 Roma

The Rose Garden of Rome (Il Roseto di Roma) is located next to the Circus Maximus (Circo Massimo). This botanical garden hosts about 1,100 different varieties of roses, both ancient and modern, from all over the world. Some of the special varieties found in the garden are estimated to be 40 million years old and are considered highly valuable. Every year in May, the city of Rome hosts an international competition for new rose varieties.

For about 300 years, until 1934, the Jews of Rome were buried in this area, though gravestones were not permitted. At the entrance to the garden, there is a memorial plaque dedicated to the cemetery.
