One of the most famous castles in Apulia—and in Italy as a whole—Castel del Monte is renowned for the mystery surrounding its construction during the reign of Emperor Frederick II. From the parking area, a shuttle takes visitors to the entrance of the site, followed by a short walk up to the castle itself.
