Located near Trieste, this castle is striking both for its beauty and its dramatic setting. It is somewhat tragic to know that Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg, who commissioned the castle, never had the chance to live in it.
Built in what was once an isolated and uninhabited area, the castle began attracting visitors soon after its completion. Today, visitors can explore several unique rooms inside the castle, including a ship-shaped room, a piano room, and a ballroom. Surrounding the castle are gardens filled with flowers and rare plants from around the world. The views from the windows and gardens overlooking the sea are truly breathtaking and unforgettable.
