Anyone arriving at the church is first greeted by a statue of Saint Francis preaching to the birds, located in front of the entrance. Francis loved and cared for nature. The church’s façade was restored in the 20th century during the events commemorating 700 years since his death. The church itself was built in the 17th century in Baroque style, and next to it is a charming cloister that has undergone several modifications since the original was built in the Franciscan style (a tradition that introduced the cloister concept as a place for monks’ seclusion). Today, during the summer season, it hosts concerts and performances.
