Lecco is considered the main city of Alessandro Manzoni’s novel “The Betrothed” – one of the most important works in Italian literary history, studied by every high school student.
In 1919, the villa where Manzoni spent his childhood was opened to the public, along with a museum dedicated to the author and the novel.
On the first floor, visitors can see the villa’s rooms with original furnishings. The second floor presents, through technological means, excerpts from the novel, episodes from the series based on the book, and scenes from films shot at the location. It also displays costumes, sets, and objects used in these productions.
