Mount Vesuvius (Vesuvio) rises to a height of 1,281 meters. Vesuvius is one of the active volcanoes in Europe, and its last significant eruption occurred in 1944 during World War II.
The volcanic ash has given the local residents particularly fertile soil, producing high-quality crops, including grapes used to make the excellent Lacrima Christi wine.
The rich vegetation gives the place a paradise-like appearance. There are several hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, some circular and easy for walking (depending on the season).
