The Town Hall

tel: +39-0577292111

Address: Piazza del Campo, 1, 53100

Standing proudly at the lower end of the square, the Town Hall is a 13th-century palace easily recognizable by its elegant Gothic style. It features three grand floors, with an additional central level and an adjoining bell tower. The pointed battlements on the roof give the building a charming and distinctive look.

This palace was once the heart of the city’s government. Visitors can admire its architectural beauty by entering the central courtyard, which is open to the public free of charge. The Council of the Nine centralized all government offices in this palace, stripping power from the feudal noble families.

The structure is connected to the square like a stage overlooking an amphitheater. Today, it houses the Museo Civico (Civic Museum).
