The Royal Palace of Caserta – Reggia di Caserta

tel: +39-0823448084

Address: Piazza Carlo di Borbone, 81100

A grand and impressive palace with 1,200 rooms, surrounded by about 3 kilometers of gardens adorned with Baroque-style statues and fountains.

The palace was built at the request of Charles III of the House of Bourbon, intended to serve as his royal residence and administrative center, modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France and Buen Retiro in Spain.

Architect Luigi Vanvitelli designed magnificent and richly decorated rooms, offering a fascinating glimpse into royal life in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The garden tour is an attraction in itself and can be done on foot, by bicycle, or by carriage (for a fee).
