On the bend of Corso 18 Agosto 1860 stands a small temple dedicated to the city’s patron, San Gerardo La Porta. The patron saint was born in Vicenza in northern Italy, later traveled to southern Italy to support Christian communities, and eventually became bishop of the capital of Basilicata. Next to the temple, which is built on several columns with classical capitals, there is also a viewpoint overlooking the city’s slopes. In the evening, this spot is illuminated and makes for a beautiful visit.
