The heart of Naples. This is where the new Greek city, Neapolis, was established as a renewed area for the older Greek city by the sea. Here run the narrow Neapolitan streets, with colorful cafés alongside small traditional souvenir shops. Here you can eat and discover the local street food and visit ancient churches featuring impressive paintings, sculptures, and ceilings. It’s worth stopping by the special Doll Hospital, visiting the café dedicated to the Madonna, and admiring the Baroque-style marble column called the Obelisco di San Domenico standing in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, erected to mark the end of a plague that swept through the city in the 17th century.
