This impressive structure, located in the center of the city, was built in the 14th century and has undergone various changes, renovations, and served different purposes over the years.
Originally a military fortress, it later became the palace of the ruling dukes, and only in the last 150 years was it transformed into a large museum housing a wide range of collections.

These include sculptures (such as Michelangelo’s “Rondanini Pietà”), Bramantino tapestries (masterpieces by some of Italy’s finest weavers), paintings (like “The Glory of Mary with the Saints” by Andrea Mantegna), frescoes (in the Ducal Chapel), and a furniture collection that reflects Milan’s long-standing passion for interior design.
