This beautiful promenade is located at the intersection of Via Cesario and Via Nazario Sauro, beneath the statue of Emperor Augustus.
In 1845, the sea level rose significantly, requiring changes to the port of Santa Lucia and the surrounding area. After the Kingdom of Naples was annexed to Italy (in 1861), Santa Lucia underwent a complete transformation, including the expansion and leveling of Via Partenope — today’s Santa Lucia promenade.
This involved reclaiming large sections from the sea and creating new streets suited to the development of modern tourism.
Along the promenade, you’ll find a row of modern and luxurious hotels, restaurants, numerous bars, and several yacht clubs.
It’s the perfect spot for an evening stroll or a run, highly recommended for watching the sunset and enjoying an excellent Italian dinner.
