The Church of San Pietro in Vincoli is located up a staircase and slightly hidden, but the visit is well worth every minute. Inside is Michelangelo’s impressive statue of Moses, a wooden ceiling decorated with the story of Peter’s miracle, the remains of the chains that bound Saint Peter in Jerusalem, and even the tomb of the seven Maccabees who were executed in their fight against the Romans. All of this is found in a quiet yet very impressive church.
