Milan’s main public art gallery, showcasing one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings. The former monastery, located in the Palazzo Brera, was transformed in the 18th century into an academy for the study of architecture, sculpture, and other arts.

The academy acquired its first paintings during the Napoleonic era, as part of a reevaluation and redistribution of Italian artworks.

The gallery’s collection includes some of the greatest masterpieces in the history of world art. Some spaces within the gallery are dedicated to temporary exhibitions, while others are reserved for events and conferences on current topics.
