One of Italy’s historic government buildings. It has two floors plus a columned floor that creates a separation between Piazza Cia and Piazza del Duomo. Originally built in the 12th century, it was renovated in the 15th century after a fire (the staircase was added during this renovation). On the second floor is the Fresco Museum of Bergamo and its surroundings, featuring around 100 works. On the columned floor, set into the floor, is the Meridiana del Sole, an 18th-century sundial engraved with the months, the zodiac signs, and the precise display of noon each day according to the month.
