The National Archaeological Museum opened in 2005 and allows visitors to follow a chronological path tracing the development of archaeology across the entire region, with a focus on Potenza. The museum is named after Dinu Adamesteanu, a pioneer of archaeology in Lucania, the historical name for Basilicata. The museum is housed in the two-story Palazzo Loffredo, near the cathedral, and is highly recommended for a visit.
