Located on the border between Umbria and the Marche region, Monte Catria rises to a height of 1,700 meters. It is part of the central Apennines and is the tallest and most prominent peak in the area, surrounded by Monte Nerone to the north and Monte Cucco to the south. The southern section of the range extends into the Monte Cucco Park (Parco del Monte Cucco). Monte Catria offers year-round outdoor activities: skiing in the winter months and hiking and cycling trails in the summer. It has also occasionally served as a stage in the Giro d’Italia cycling race.
