After wandering through the alleys of the old city, head out through the walls to Bari’s open seafront promenade. You can access it behind the Basilica of San Nicola or via Piazza Mercantile, from where you’ll join the long stretch of Lungomare Imperatore Augusto. From there, head south and, after about a 20-minute walk along Lungomare Araldo Di Crollalanza, you’ll reach Lungomare Nazario Sauro. This area features shaded tree-lined boulevards, cafés, benches facing the sea, pleasant beaches, and in season, attractions for children.
