In one of the city’s most beautiful public gardens, at Via Nomentana 70, stands a villa—one of the many stunning Roman villas: Villa Torlonia.
The villa once served as the residence of Benito Mussolini during the war. After extensive renovations, it, along with other nearby buildings, was transformed into a museum complex. One of its most unique attractions is the House of the Owls, which looks like something straight out of a fairy tale or a Harry Potter story.
The roofs and turrets, as well as the interior of the museum, make it well worth a visit. Why “Owls”? Because of the many owls decorating various parts of the building.
