For over 100 years, the historic tram has operated from the city center up to an elevation of 348 meters, reaching a point overlooking the capital of the Friuli region. At first, the ride is slow, but soon it passes through a beautiful green landscape offering views of the unique city as well as the Adriatic Sea. The tram route is excellent and recommended for those who want to reach the lighthouse (get off at the dell’Obelisco station). You can also get off at the second-to-last station and walk the last 4 km to enjoy the fresh air and try one of the typical local Osmizze restaurants—small eateries with few tables, some even improvised, where locals cook food and serve their own wine, all made from local produce.
