A site located outside the city center. The purpose of this prestigious project was to host the 1940 Olympic Games, which were planned to take place on fascist Italy’s soil in Rome. Foro Italico contains many sports stadiums, including Stadio Olimpico, the largest sports stadium in Rome, and the decorated Stadio dei Marmi, next to the building that houses the headquarters of the Italian National Olympic Committee. The area is adorned with statues donated by various Italian regions and artists, representing different sports activities.
