A town in the Imperia district, situated on the Nervia River, with a valley of the same name. The town features an impressive medieval fortress that became the residence of rulers during the Renaissance period. The picturesque bridge crossing the river offers an excellent view of the fortress. Claude Monet called it “a pearl of lightness.” Inside the town, there are special gatehouses built from local black stone.
