Address: Crema 26013 Province of Cremona

The second most important city in the Province of Cremona, Crema is a relatively small town situated on the Serio River. Throughout history the city changed hands many times, and the marks of its various rulers can still be seen. The town is surrounded by Venetian walls, and the entrance to the old city is through ancient gates.

In the center, after a short walk, you’ll find the impressive façade of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, alongside the Palazzo Comunale with its arcades and surrounding cafés. Another recommended site is the Santuario di Santa Maria della Croce, notable for its unique architecture.

Crema is also renowned for two ecclesiastical crafts: organ building (many of which are found in churches worldwide), showcased at the Museo Civico Dedicato all’Arte Organaria or in local workshops; and the production of church bells, for which you can visit the Fonderia Allanconi factory (just outside the center).
