Address: Piazza del Duomo, 22100 Como

Considered one of the most beautiful buildings in northern Italy, construction of the Duomo began at the end of the 14th century and was completed only in the mid-18th century with the addition of the Baroque-style dome, designed by Filippo Juvarra.

The church is built of white marble, and its façade blends various architectural styles:

A Romanesque-style entrance door (remnant of the previous church that stood on the site)

A rose window

Gothic spires

Renaissance side doors

The interior is designed in Gothic style, divided into three naves separated by ten columns, and features dozens of masterpieces, including:

Paintings

Tapestries from Florence, Ferrara, and Antwerp

Frescoes in the apse depicting Saint Ambrose, the patron saint of the city.
