A remarkable church with an exterior in Baroque style, yet inside it preserves numerous elements from earlier periods. Its current appearance results from reconstruction after the earthquake that struck the city in the 17th century.
The cathedral was built on the remains of a temple of Athena, and the columns on the left side are original from the temple itself. Notably, the ceiling is in the Catalan Gothic style, while other columns were brought by the Arabs when they converted the site into a mosque.
On the front steps appear two major Christian saints: Paul, holding a spear, and Peter, holding the keys.
