Cathedral, Baptistery, and Bell Tower

The historic center of Cremona features three architecturally and artistically fascinating buildings. The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta is the main building in Piazza del Duomo, boasting an impressive Romanesque façade with a rose window, columns, and an entrance door adorned with carvings of prophets. The interior of the church is Gothic, rich in artworks such as a 3-meter crucifix and dozens of sculptures and paintings from different periods.

Next to it, the Baptistery (Battistero) is octagonal, symbolizing life renewed after the seven days of the week. It has an interesting dome in both size and construction, and inside, the baptismal font is beautifully decorated.

Adjacent to these is the bell tower, standing 112 meters tall, the highest in Italy. Those who climb its 502 steps are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Po Valley at the Vertical Museum of the Torrazzo of Cremona (Museo Verticale del Torrazzo di Cremona).
