In the city center of Como, near the lake shore, stands the bell tower of the Church of San Nicolò, which reaches a height of 96 meters. The tower is one of the city’s symbols and is nicknamed “The Pencil” because of the shape of its upper part.
The lower, round section was originally part of the city walls built in the 15th century, while the octagonal addition was added in the 19th century. It is recommended to join a guided tour, which ends at the observation terrace at the top of the tower, offering a stunning view of the lake.
