Bastione di Saint Remy

tel: +39-0706771

Address: Piazza Costituzione, 09121

Remains of fortifications built in the 19th century during the rule of the Kingdom of Piedmont on the island. The name comes from the deputy king, the Baron of Saint Remy, who ruled the city at that time (Filippo-Guglielmo Pallavicini, Barone di Saint Remy). The fortifications were constructed on top of a 14th-century wall with the purpose of connecting the Castello, Villanova, and Marina districts.

Today, visitors can explore the structure, enjoy souvenir stalls, cafes, and even take in the view from Terrazza Umberto I, the rooftop terrace, marveling at the cityscape, the harbor, and the sea.
