Arrival in Central Rome by Taxi:

According to the fixed fare established by law in Italy, a taxi for up to four passengers and their luggage from Fiumicino Airport to hotels located in the city center has a fixed price of 48 euros. This price may increase due to additional fees such as a night tariff, a 10% surcharge for rides on holidays, an additional charge for the second piece of luggage and beyond, as well as a price increase if your destination is outside the city itself. However, we recommend asking the driver about the price before getting into the taxi, just to ensure that your hotel is considered in the center.

Similar to the situation at our Ben Gurion Airport, taxis wait for passengers in the designated area outside the terminal, and there is usually a very long queue of passengers waiting for a taxi. During the late night hours, when there is no other public transport, you may find yourself waiting for a taxi for up to an hour.

Be cautious about using taxis that do not operate under the law, whose drivers may operate without insurance and charge exorbitant prices. Only look for licensed taxis (you can identify them by their white color and the TAXI sign on the roof), and it’s advisable to know the fares in advance to avoid falling victim to price-gouging drivers.

Getting to the heart of Rome by train:

Two train lines connect Rome’s airport to the city center: The Leonardo Express and the FL1 suburban train.

The travel time is 32 minutes, and it runs every 15 minutes (sometimes every 30 minutes).
Ticket price: only 14 euros! If you are traveling in a group, at the ‘Mini Groups’ rate, you can purchase 4 tickets in a single transaction for 40 euros instead of 56!
Additionally, you can buy a booklet of 10 tickets, a single ticket, at a discounted price of 115 euros.

FL1 Suburban Train:

It is a cheaper alternative to the Leonardo Express. The price is 8 Euros each way, and the train stops at Tiburtina, Tuscolana, Ostiense, and the main station Trastevere. This train is a good option for passengers staying in these neighborhoods. It operates from 6 AM to 11:30 PM, departing every 15 minutes.

Important: This train does not stop at Rome’s central train station, Termini.

Important to know:

  • Children under the age of 4 travel for free.
  • For every paying adult, one child aged 4 to 12 travels for free.

It is recommended to choose a train based on your destination within the city, as well as according to the time and budget you have available.
