Galleria Borghese

Address: Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5 00197 ROME

Located in the heart of the Villa Borghese Gardens, the gallery houses a remarkable collection of art and sculpture assembled by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V.

The villa, designed by architect Flaminio Ponzio, was conceived as a treasure house for masterpieces by some of the greatest artists: sculptures by Canova, paintings by Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, and many others.

Of particular interest are the works of Lorenzo Bernini, Rome’s greatest sculptor, which showcase his secular creations, in contrast to the religious sculptures and architectural works that dominate the city.

The collection is displayed across two floors and around 20 rooms, and visits are limited to two hours.
