In the very heart of Rome, just a “stone’s throw” from the Pantheon, hidden in a small and picturesque alley, lies one of the city’s most unique churches.
The Jesuit church of Sant’Ignazio preserves within it an extraordinary example of artistic virtuosity that will leave you in awe. The stunning ceiling painting by Andrea Pozzo creates an optical illusion, making it appear as though the church’s roof is crowned by a dome, when in fact it is completely flat.
This “false dome” is an absolute must-see and should definitely be included in your Rome itinerary.
