The Museum of Mysteries is located in the city center and showcases the giant structures and costumes that characterize the city’s most important folklore event—and one of the most popular in the Molise region—the Festival of Mysteries, held on Corpus Domini Sunday (the Feast of the Holy Body and Blood, Corpus Christi).
Each structure represents and celebrates a “mystery” from the Scriptures or of a particular saint.
This unique museum displays figures, traditional clothing, objects, posters, and descriptions of festivals held over the years. Opened in 2006, it is considered the most visited museum in Molise.
The museum is divided into three main rooms: one presenting the processional carriers, another with the 13 figures who participate, and a projection hall showing films of past processions dating back to 1929, including behind-the-scenes footage of the preparations.
