A palace built for Francesco (Friedrich) III of the House of Este in the mid-18th century, who, during his first visit to Varese, chose this location as his new residence. The building is constructed in a Lombard Baroque style combined with Neoclassical elements and is surrounded by stunning gardens considered among the most beautiful in Italy. The façade faces the city itself. Inside, there are elegant rooms, an impressive staircase, a ballroom, and stucco decorations adorning the walls and ceilings. The gardens feature walking paths, charming corners, and wooded areas that were once used for the duke’s hobby – hunting.
