Brescia hosts, once a year, both the starting and finishing points of the Mille Miglia car race, meaning “Thousand Miles,” often called “the most beautiful car race in the world,” a description immortalized by Enzo Ferrari, founder of the famous car company. In the past, the race was part of an international car racing series, and today it is a cultural event held in October, featuring hundreds of vintage cars. The entire city turns red, and traditionally Viale Venezia fills with racing enthusiasts and many tourists. It’s recommended to visit the Mille Miglia Museum beforehand, which tells the history of the race.
