This square is also known as Piazza Dei Due Duomi (“Square of the Two Cathedrals”) because of the two church buildings located there. Duomo Vecchio, the Old Cathedral, is a unique Romanesque church built on an ancient circular structure, featuring remarkable Roman mosaics inside. Duomo Nuovo, the New Cathedral, houses a special ancient wooden cross and an impressive marble memorial. Next to the two churches stands another historic building, the Palazzo del Broletto, the medieval town hall.
