The palace of the Kings of Sicily, built atop an ancient fortress, today draws visitors primarily for the Palatine Chapel (Cappella Palatina) — a private royal chapel constructed during the reign of the Norman king Roger II.

The architectural style is a blend of Arab, Norman, and Byzantine elements, reflecting a time of religious tolerance that lasted for centuries. Stunning mosaics cover the walls and ceiling, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of mosaic artists.

It’s also worth visiting the former royal reception rooms.

Today, the palace houses the Sicilian Regional Parliament.
