Teatro Massimo is the third-largest theater in Europe! On its entrance steps, the famous scene from The Godfather Part III was filmed — the one in which Michael Corleone’s daughter is murdered, and he responds with a silent scream. A truly iconic moment in cinema history.

The theater is located in Piazza Verdi and stands out thanks to its impressive façade. It was built in the 18th century, and its current appearance is the result of a long restoration following a fire, completed in 1997.

At the entrance, two allegorical statues representing the arts — Tragedy and Music — stand tall. The interior of the theater is stunningly beautiful, and it’s highly recommended to take a guided tour to fully appreciate it.
