Known as the “Town of Love” in the region, this picturesque village is an excellent starting point for treks in the Foresta Umbra, but it’s well worth a visit on its own. Begin with the “Kiss Alley” (Vicolo del Bacio)—where every kiss is said to bring good luck. You’ll also find love notes left by romantic couples.
Visit the 14th-century underground olive press, carved into the rock and showcasing the traditional stages of olive oil production. Enjoy a coffee or gelato near the fortress, parts of whose ancient walls have been transformed into homes for local residents. Then continue to the peaceful Capuchin Monastery, and don’t miss the magnificent oak tree, said to have been planted here in the mid-17th century.
