The Baths of Caracalla are the second-largest Roman public baths in the city and were widely used during the Roman era for over 300 years. It was not only a large complex for sports, leisure, and body care, but also a place for learning — it even housed a public library within the complex. Many parts of the structure have been well preserved to this day. One can imagine the entire complex once covered in marble (which was looted over the years) and picture how the Romans used it for athletic and bathing purposes. A walk among the remains of the mosaics gives a sense of stepping back in time.
