The nickname for Rimini’s Duomo is the Tempio Malatestiano, named after its founder and patron, Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, in the 15th century. The classical façade, as mentioned, is the work of one of the greatest architects of that era, Leon Battista Alberti, who engraved the letters “SI” — the initials of the ruler’s name — on the arches and in the chapel where the family’s ancestors are buried. Inside the Gothic-style church, you’ll find Giotto’s Crucifix figure, an amazing sculpted depiction of ancient Rimini, and more. A highly recommended visit.
