tel: +39-0523 320653

Address: Piazza Sant'Antonino, 29121 Piacenz

Around Piazza di Sant’Antonino, several noteworthy sites can be found. First, it’s worth entering the Basilica di Sant’Antonino itself, where the relics of the saint are preserved alongside impressive frescoes by the artist Camillo Gavasetti. A significant historical event took place here: the Peace Treaty between Emperor Frederick Barbarossa and the Italian city-states was signed in this church in 1183.

Nearby, the Church of Santa Maria in Cortina (Chiesa di Santa Maria in Cortina) houses the well in which Antonino’s body was found, lying in a hypogeum decorated with frescoes from the Roman era.

Behind the church is the Sala dei Teatini, formerly the Church of San Vincenzo, which has recently been restored and now serves as the rehearsal hall for the city’s youth choir. The church walls are adorned with paintings protected by glass panels.
