The center of the town of Capri is Piazza Umberto I, known as La Piazzetta. Those who arrive there by funicular come directly to the square, where café tables are set up and there is a stunning view toward Marina Grande on one side and Monte Solaro on the other.
For those arriving by local bus, access to the square goes through Via Roma, which is lined with many souvenir and ceramic shops.
In the square is the Chiesa di Santo Stefano, the city’s former cathedral. From the square, Via Vittorio Emanuele leads to a luxury shopping street and other visitor attractions.
