The old flour mills in Monza’s park are numerous. The park’s location on the Lambro River, and its role as a center of rural life in the past, led to the construction of many diverse flour mills. Some are classified as “Asciutte” (dry mills) due to their unique structure between two buildings.
Visiting the mills tells the story of the farm workers, the methods of energy production in the past, and the dependence of local residents on these facilities, which were built mainly in the mid-19th century by Giacomo Tazzini, a local architect. Some of the mills are still in use today for agricultural production and even by farm residents.
