The music capital of Italy, known for the annual Italian Song Festival, from which many famous hits and classic songs have emerged. It’s also known for the Russian architecture of the Church of Christ the Saviour (Chiesa di Cristo Salvatore), a reminder of the Russian community that lived in the town at the end of the 19th century. Sanremo is also the flower capital, with its alleys, balconies, and house entrances beautifully decorated with many colorful flowers. Another spot worth visiting is La Pigna—an ancient area with medieval remains, a palm-lined promenade, gate towers in the old city walls, and small churches.
