A city gate on the west side, from which you can reach the Basilica of Monreale via Corso Catalafimi. The gate was built in the 16th century to honor the visit of Emperor Charles V to the city.
The inner side, facing the cathedral, is designed as a triumphal arch, while the other side, facing Piazza Indipendenza, features large telamons representing the Moorish enemies Charles V fought against.
