Ponte della Vittoria

Address: Via Uniera del Zater, 54, 32100 Belluno

One of the symbols of the city of Belluno. Its current iron structure is the result of construction between 1923 and 1926, following World War I. Its single-arch design—unlike earlier bridges built over the river—is specifically intended to withstand the powerful current of the Piave River during high flow. The first mention of a bridge over the river near the city of Belluno dates back to 1388. Since then, various bridges were built in different locations and from different materials (mostly wood), until this bridge was constructed.

On some of the bridge’s pillars are inscriptions of quotes from the “Canzone del Piave” (“Song of the Piave”) — songs that symbolize the Italian resistance against the Austrian enemy and the use of the Piave River as a route for advancement and retreat.
