Gorizia is a city and province located on the border with Slovenia and near the Austrian border, so you can see a mix of Latin, Slovenian, and German influences. In the city center, opposite the Church of Sant’Ignazio and in the nearby square, Piazza Sant’Antonio, you can admire the influence of Central Europe on the architecture and, consequently, on the city’s culture. Look for benches with wise sayings inscribed on their edges. Gorizia is also known for its beautiful gardens, such as those at Palazzo Lantieri and the Giardino Viatori.
