Dolceacqua is a town in the province of Imperia, situated on the Nervia River and within the valley of the same name. The town features an impressive medieval castle that was transformed into the rulers’ residence during the Renaissance. The picturesque bridge crossing the river offers an excellent view of the castle. Claude Monet called it “a pearl of lightness.” Within the town, there are distinctive house gates built from local black stone.
