Museums
1) Parco Poggibonsi
Come visit us at the open-air museum that reconstructs the central core of the village from the 9th century, excavated by archaeologists just a few meters away, at full scale: the large longhouse, covering more than 140 square meters, divided into a domestic area and an area dedicated to daily life activities.
You can get to know the small community of farmers and craftsmen, who around the grand manor house, perform their duties according to the dominus’s orders. The blacksmith forges weapons and tools, the carpenter carves the wood, and the baker grinds the grain and prepares the bread. Inside the house, the weaver works with colorful threads in the dyeing shop; meanwhile, the land is cultivated in the large garden where you can visit and see how people lived during the medieval period. The kids are going to love it. (Visits are available during the day and at night).
