Just a half-hour drive from the city, in the heart of a green and enchanting area, lies a small lake, perfect for a short trip. Access is through the town of San Demetrio ne’ Vestini.
The lake was formed by two natural springs and is surrounded by oak and willow trees. Its pristine volcanic waters attract locals and nature lovers alike, who come to swim in its warm waters in summer or to fish for trout and carp.
In 2009, the lake was damaged by the earthquake, and there were fears it might disappear due to a crack in its bed, but fortunately, nature healed itself and the lake survived.
